The Braun Read
Proceed with cautionA few things here deserve a hard look before you spend time on it.
- Pay
- Base is listed but not OTE. Ask what the variable is and how many people hit it.
- Transparency
- Says nothing about quota, attainment, deal size, territory or sales cycle.
- Pipeline
- Mostly self-sourced. Great if you like outbound, rough if you don't.
- Time on market
- Open 13 days.
- Company hiring
- 41 sales roles open, hiring at a steady pace. Ask how many reps they hired last year and how many are still there.
Red flags
- Hustle-culture language. Words like rockstar, ninja, grind, or work hard / play hard usually mean long hours and high turnover.
Green flags
None spotted.
Based only on what the posting says. Flags are a starting point for your first call, not a final judgment.

Full posting
As a Senior Enterprise Sales Engineer, you’ll serve as a trusted technical advisor and strategic partner to both customers and Sales. You’ll lead complex technical evaluations, align solutions to business outcomes, and help shape deal strategy in high-impact opportunities.
This role goes beyond delivering demos - you’ll own the evaluation experience end-to-end, influence key stakeholders, and help drive successful outcomes across enterprise accounts.
What You’ll Do:
- Work with your AE to generate pipeline. Includes validating spokes, aligning messages to target personas, working the customer's technical organisation through your own network and meeting customers where they are: conferences, meetups or on-site
- Lead customer discovery to uncover technical challenges, business goals, and success criteria, then translate those needs into tailored Datadog solutions and measurable business outcomes
- Deliver engaging product demos, technical presentations, solution workshops, etc. that connect platform capabilities to customer outcomes for diverse stakeholder audiences including executives and in circumstances where the demo is the whole impression.
- Full ownership of the technical evaluations (POVs) end-to-end: scoping use cases and requirements, defining competitive success criteria, building a project plan with clear timelines, and holding all participants accountable to the process
- Identify, develop, and leverage technical champions across multi-stakeholder environments, building a structured plan for champion cultivation and influence throughout the deal cycle
- Contribute to product direction through active participation in structured product and engineering field feedback sessions, bringing field insights and prospect input to PM and engineering teams
- Drive operational excellence by ensuring activity, deal progress, and customer interactions are accurately documented and up to date in related systems
- Contribute to team enablement by mentoring peers, sharing best practices, and creating reusable assets that scale knowledge across the region
Who You Are:
- 7+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or a technical customer-facing role within an enterprise environment
- Skilled at influencing and adapting communication across technical, business, and executive audiences
- Advanced background in public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, APM/tracing, security, developer experience, observability
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a range of audiences
- Resilient in the face of sustained non-response. Early in a Key Account, calls go unanswered and emails go nowhere for a long time. You need to be someone who finds the grind interesting rather than demoralising, and who can keep the quality of the twentieth attempt as high as the first.
- Actively coachable. The strongest people we hire ask for a dry run, take the feedback, and change what they do - visibly, in the next attempt.
- A consultative, outcome - oriented approach to problem-solving and customer engagement
- Comfortable operating where attempts are scarce. You will work a small portfolio of very large accounts where a mishandled first meeting can close a door for a year - the discipline is preparation and judgement about where to spend a chance
- Experience mentoring peers or contributing to team enablement initiatives
- Demonstrated capability of utilizing AI tooling and scaling it
- Growth mindset of embracing change and being curious
- Willingness to travel as needed to support customer engagements, multi-day onsites, and industry conferences in person
