Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Ask: “What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?”

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

Base is what you're guaranteed. OTE and the median show the upside.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

7shifts is an HR platform designed to help restaurant teams thrive. With an easy-to-use app and industry-specific solutions, 7shifts saves time, reduces errors, and helps keep costs in check for over 55,000 restaurants. Our mission is to simplify team management and improve performance for restaurants, with a long-term vision of creating a thriving restaurant industry through the power of connected & engaged teams. As the Partner Manager, Mid-Market at 7shifts, you’ll own and grow relationships with our POS, payroll, technology, and agency partners to drive partner-sourced pipeline and support our mid-market growth strategy. Reporting to the Manager of Partnerships, you’ll work closely with our Sr. Director of Mid-Market and collaborate with the Mid-Market sales team through deal reviews to identify opportunities and accelerate growth. This is a dedicated role focused on building and scaling our mid-market partner channel, with a key objective of growing partner-sourced pipeline in 2027. You’ll also partner with our Product team to drive business development for new mid-market integrations, helping expand our partner ecosystem and unlock new opportunities. Travel will be a regular part of the role, with approximately 20–30% of your time spent at conferences, partner events, and on-site meetings. What you'll do: - Build and strengthen relationships with mid-market AEs, sales leaders, and account managers across our POS, payroll, and technology partners, including Toast, Square, SpotOn, Global Payments (Genius), Qu, HungerRush, and NCR - Develop joint target account lists with each partner and work directly with their reps to identify, prioritize, and progress opportunities - Partner with our Mid-Market sales team through weekly deal reviews, bringing forward partner insights and identifying opportunities to influence active deals - Deliver training and enablement sessions for partner sales teams and dealer networks, helping reps understand when to bring 7shifts into a deal and how our broader platform supports restaurant operators beyond scheduling - Leverage AI to work more effectively, from identifying key partner contacts and drafting outreach to preparing for meetings. You’ll validate AI-generated outputs and take ownership of the quality and results of your work - Track and report on partner channel performance, including partner-sourced mid-market opportunities, training and enablement activity, and conversion rates - Plan and prioritize conference and partner event attendance, manage your travel budget, and evaluate the pipeline and opportunities generated by each trip What you bring: - 4+ years of experience in partnerships, channel sales, alliances, or a similar role, ideally within a B2B SaaS company serving mid-market or multi-location customers - A track record of generating pipeline and driving growth through partner channels - The ability to build strong relationships with individual sales reps at partner organizations, earn their trust, and make 7shifts a go-to partner in their sales process - Strong business judgment and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities across partners at different stages of growth - Experience bringing cross-functional teams together to move deals, business development opportunities, or integrations forward - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build alignment across teams - Hands-on experience using AI in your day-to-day work, with examples of how you've applied it to improve efficiency, quality, or outcomes - Willingness and ability to travel 20–30% of the time for partner meetings, conferences, and industry events It'd be even cooler if you had: - Experience working at or partnering with a restaurant POS company, ideally within a dealer or reseller channel - Experience leading a new integration partnership from initial scoping through launch - Experience working in or supporting the restaurant industry Our commitment to our Shifties: - Opportunity: Our product is evolving in exciting ways, and we’re focused on delivering even more value to restaurants. This momentum creates real opportunities to learn and grow. Whether you’re honing your craft or exploring new paths, you’ll be supported and empowered to own your growth and impact a product shaping the future of the restaurant industry. - Challenge: We’re tackling real problems in a fast-moving, complex industry. The work is scrappy and ambiguous, but meaningful. You’ll think critically, act with intention, and shape solutions that make a real difference for restaurant teams. - Culture: We’re proud to be recognized among the best workplaces in North America. Guided by our mission and values, we move fast to solve meaningful problems and celebrate wins together. Whether through in-office and remote events, team offsites like Sparks, or everyday moments of connection, we create space for shared growth, collaboration, and fun. - Equity: We’re a Series C, VC-backed SaaS company, and we believe everyone should share in the success they help create. When we build together, we grow together. - Health and Wellness: We support Shifties in and outside of work, knowing that what people need can change over time. From day one, you’ll have access to benefits like health and dental, lifestyle spending accounts to a parental leave program built with flexibility in mind, to help you bring your best self to work. - Flexibility: Our team is intentional around how and where we work, whether remotely, in person, or a mix of both. We prioritize candidates who thrive in a hybrid work environment with offices in Saskatoon and Toronto, ensuring in-person collaboration and connection when possible. Plus, we offer a flexible vacation policy to encourage everyone to recharge when needed. Oh, and our ‘90 Day Shift’ program lets Shift work from (almost) anywhere because who wouldn’t want to trade their desk for a beach view once in a while? - Support: We set Shifties up for success with the tools they need, like the latest Apple tech, a home office setup, and some 7shifts swag to make it official. But support goes beyond day one. We’re serious about professional growth, offering coaching, feedback, development planning, and opportunities to grow from within. We know you might not check every box, and that’s okay. If you’re excited about this role, inspired to contribute to a meaningful product, and eager to share ideas that drive real change, we’d love to hear from you. We’re building an inclusive team that reflects the diverse industry we serve, and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. We thank you for your interest in joining the 7shifts team!
