Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Ask: “What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?”

What Assembled sells

Scheduling and AI agents for support teams

A support team can have thousands of people and AI agents spread across teams, time zones, and products, and keeping them all in order is hard. Assembled gives support leaders software that forecasts how many customers will reach out, builds the schedules, and makes changes during the day. Its AI agents can also resolve customer issues, so more problems get solved.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What's the base, and how is the rest paid out?

OTE without a base doesn't tell you what you can count on.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

ABOUT ASSEMBLED Assembled helps companies scale great customer support. As consumers, we’ve all been there. You need help, you’re stuck on hold or going in circles with an AI, and your problem still isn’t solved. Behind great support is a complex operational problem: thousands of people and AI agents working across teams, time zones, and products as new problems emerge. Assembled gives support leaders the tools to manage that complexity, from AI agents that resolve customer issues to software that forecasts demand, builds schedules, and makes intraday adjustments. More than 400 companies, including DoorDash, Salesforce, Stripe, and Sephora, trust Assembled https://www.assembled.com/customers. We've raised $71M from NEA, Emergence Capital, Stripe, and Basis Set Ventures and have offices in San Francisco, New York, and London. THE ROLE As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), your core responsibility will be generating high-quality pipeline and building the foundation for a career in sales. We believe SDRs are more critical than ever in the AI era, and that the role is best AI-enhanced, not AI-replaced. You’ll use AI to research accounts, personalize outreach, and scale your impact while developing the judgment, curiosity, and product expertise that great sellers need. This is not just another SDR role. One of our cultural values is to “get on the plane.” We win by meeting customers face-to-face, so you’ll represent Assembled at events, trade shows, and dinners. You’ll get exposure to discovery calls and demos and build the skills to grow into a closing role. Today, 40% of our Account Executives started as SDRs. You’ll get exposure to teams at companies like Canva, Ramp, Robinhood, and Stripe, learning how some of the world’s largest support organizations actually operate and where Assembled can make a real difference. It’s a chance to build strong sales instincts by working on meaningful business problems from day one. We’re open to people coming from outside traditional SaaS sales. What matters more is that you’ve shown you can learn quickly, push yourself, handle setbacks, and figure things out when the answer isn’t obvious. You will report to our SDR Manager. We’re in-person 5 days a week from our bright, airy offices in the Mission in San Francisco and Chelsea Market in New York. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Generate and book meetings with outbound prospects to create high-quality pipeline - Prospect across cold calls, email, LinkedIn, events, and other channels - Research accounts, identify key stakeholders, and figure out where there is a real reason to engage - Use AI tools and automation to work more efficiently, personalize outreach, and improve how you prospect - Build strong discovery, objection-handling, and communication skills through coaching and repetition - Build toward running discovery calls and more customer conversations independently - Attend in-person events, conferences, and customer meetups to create opportunities and build relationships - Partner closely with Account Executives, Marketing, and RevOps on outbound campaigns and strategy - Test new ideas, learn from what works, and help us keep improving the SDR playbook ABOUT YOU - You’re serious about building a career in sales and can explain why this path appeals to you - You’ve done hard things before and have clear examples of setting a high bar for yourself and delivering - You ask good questions, dig past surface-level answers, and like figuring out how a business really works - You’re scrappy when there isn’t a clear answer and can make progress without waiting for a perfect playbook - You pick things up quickly, take feedback well, and actually change how you work because of it - You can handle setbacks and rejection without losing momentum - You communicate clearly, work well with others, and aren’t afraid to push back when you see something differently - You don’t need prior SDR or SaaS experience; we care more about how you think, learn, and operate OUR U.S. BENEFITS - Generous medical, dental, and vision benefits - Paid company holidays, sick time, and unlimited time off - Monthly credits to spend on each: professional development, general wellness, Assembled customers, and commuting - Paid parental leave - Onsite work model with catered lunches everyday (M-F), snacks, and beverages in our SF & NY offices - 401(k) plan enrollment We know great candidates don’t always meet every requirement listed in a job description. If the role excites you and you believe you can make an impact at Assembled, we encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels like they belong and has the opportunity to do their best work. We look forward to hearing from you!
