Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Ask: “What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?”

What Cloudinary sells

Image and video tools that make websites faster

Websites need pictures and videos that load fast and look right, and handling them well is hard work for developers. Cloudinary is a tool developers plug into their websites to take care of those images and videos. The result is faster sites that keep visitors more engaged.

Red flags

  • "Unlimited earnings," no numbers. It sells uncapped or unlimited earnings but never says what anyone actually earns.

Green flags

None spotted.

Based only on what the posting says. Flags are a starting point for your first call, not a final judgment.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What did the median rep and the top rep actually earn last year?

"Unlimited" is a ceiling, not a number. You need the median.

  2. 2.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  3. 3.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  4. 4.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  5. 5.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

At Cloudinary, we celebrate Life & Work. We believe in healthy growth, working with purpose, and creating meaningful value. If you’re looking for a place where your voice matters and your work truly makes an impact, this may be the opportunity for you. Responsibilities: Win new logos across a named list of $1bn+ revenue enterprise brands in EMEA, with a focus on commerce, consistently delivering against an annual new-business quota. Build pipeline through your own network, executive outreach, events and partners, rather than waiting for inbound. Run complex enterprise sales cycles with rigour, using MEDDPICC to qualify, map decision-making and forecast accurately. Engage and align senior stakeholders across Digital, E-commerce, Brand and Creative, Marketing, IT and Procurement, up to CxO level. Build compelling, value-led business cases that tie Cloudinary to the brand's commercial priorities, such as conversion, speed to market, content velocity and total cost of ownership. Orchestrate the wider Cloudinary team, including Solutions Engineering, Product, Customer Success, Marketing and partners (SIs, agencies and commerce platforms), to win and land deals. Negotiate and close multi-year, multi-product enterprise agreements, working through MSAs, security reviews and procurement. Grow each new strategic account through its first 12 months, working with Customer Success to drive adoption, expand into new teams, brands and regions, and land upsell and cross-sell across our full product suite. Write and execute strategic account plans for your top targets and new customers, and keep Salesforce pipeline and forecasts accurate. Represent Cloudinary at industry events and bring market insight back into product and marketing. About You: 10+ years of quota-carrying enterprise software sales, with at least 5 in new business or strategic hunting roles. A track record of winning large, complex deals with $1bn+ revenue enterprise brands, growing them after signature, and consistently over-achieving quota. Experience selling into large enterprises across EMEA, ideally in commerce, such as fashion and apparel, retail or luxury. An established network of senior relationships in enterprise brands, in digital, e-commerce, creative, marketing or technology leadership. A strong grasp of how commerce brands operate: omnichannel, product content, seasonal launch cycles, brand governance and the digital commerce tech stack. Mastery of a structured sales methodology (MEDDPICC or similar) and disciplined forecasting. The credibility to talk business value with a CDO or CMO and technical fit with an architect, translating between the two. Strong commercial and negotiation skills, including multi-year agreements and global procurement processes. A collaborative style: you lead the deal team, not just the deal. Willingness to travel across EMEA. Nice to Have: Experience selling DAM, PIM, CMS, e-commerce platforms, digital experience or media and content technology. Relationships with the SIs, digital agencies and commerce platform partners these brands work with. Experience in a high-growth SaaS company, helping shape a new vertical or territory. A second European language, such as French, Italian or German. Why Join Cloudinary: Sell a platform that's already trusted by leading global brands, into a sector where visual content directly drives revenue. A named territory of some of the biggest enterprise brands in EMEA, with real executive and specialist support behind every deal. Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission and equity. Flexible hybrid working, and a collaborative, inclusive culture that values ambition and teamwork. Room to grow as we scale our enterprise business across EMEA. #LI-BP1   We have you in mind. As an employee, you will experience many benefits, including: Awesome technology Top-talent peers Robust vacation & wellness policy Annual development stipend Catered lunches or a food stipend Cloudinary is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer dedicated to pursuing a diverse workforce.
