What Synthesia sells

AI videos and practice sessions for staff training

A company wants its staff to build real skills, but reading and watching slides often doesn't make them stick. Synthesia makes AI videos with avatars and runs interactive practice sessions where people rehearse real conversations. Staff can then build skills that can be measured.

Green flags

  • SDR or inbound support. You won't be building all of your own pipeline from zero.

Based only on what the posting says. Flags are a starting point for your first call, not a final judgment.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What are the base and the OTE for this role?

No point investing hours before you know the number.

  3. 3.

What's the annual quota, and how was it set?

A quota built from real data is a target. Otherwise it's a hope.

  4. 4.

How long is ramp, and what's the quota during it?

Full quota on day one means you start behind.

  5. 5.

What's a typical deal size and sales cycle?

Together they tell you how many deals it takes to hit your number.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

Full posting
Synthesia is the world’s leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US. As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations. Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow. We’re hiring a Senior Solutions Engineer to build Synthesia’s presales function in France and Southern EMEA. This is a founding role: you’ll be one of the first SEs, shaping the playbook, tooling and best practices as we scale, not following an established model. As a Solutions Engineer at Synthesia, you will partner with Account Executives, Customer Success and Product Marketing to run discovery, deliver demos, scope POCs and design the technical solution for each deal. You will be a trusted advisor focused on the value customers get from Synthesia, and you’ll take what you learn in the field back to Product. This is an incredible opportunity to join us as we become a multi-product company for the first time, and continue to scale across France and Southern EMEA. If you’re someone who is excited and driven by building whilst scaling, we’d love to hear from you. Sales Cycle Ownership - Coplan and execute discovery calls to understand customer requirements, their technical environment, and current business challenges. - Design and deliver compelling demonstrations that solve customer problems, quantify the value of solving those problems, and tell a clear, credible story of how Synthesia solves them better than anything else. - Understand and overcome technical objections and integration concerns; identify blockers early and develop solution paths with customers. - Support stakeholder workshops that connect Synthesia to the buyer's broader technology strategy on complex, multi-stakeholder deals. - Partner with Account Executives to define account and deal strategy, advise on competitive positioning, and provide your assessment of opportunity stage and forecast your book of business to leadership. Demo Excellence - Design and execute repeatable Demo methodologies that prove Synthesia’s business value quickly, whether the customer is deploying Studio at scale, designing Roleplay Sessions for skill uplift, or integrating Interactive Avatars into their product. - Identify, build relationships with, and actively empower executive champions within customer organizations so they can advocate for Synthesia internally. - Develop and maintain reusable assets across demo environments, use cases, integration templates, objections, and industry playbooks brought to life directly in Synthesia’s platform. - Support POC and pilot readouts as a business narrative, not a feature tour, learning to bring storytelling and executive presence to the room as you grow into more senior conversations. - Provide technical guidance on platform capabilities, API and SDK integrations, security, compliance topics (SOC 2, GDPR, enterprise identity), and scalability for global deployments. Product & Industry Expertise - Maintain deep expertise on Synthesia's platform capabilities across all product lines, roadmap, and positioning to highlight value driving use cases. - Specific vertical knowledge, establishing credibility as a subject matter expert within an industry to easily build credibility and trust with executive buyers. - Share customer and prospect product and competitive feedback to the pre-sales leadership and Product team; flag customer pain points, missing capabilities, and gaps that surface in live deals. - Stay ahead of the AI-native learning and enablement space, so you can credibly discuss how customers are shifting from current, static methods to interactive practice and measurable skill development. Ecosystem Collaboration - Product: share customer and prospect feedback with Product, flagging pain points, missing capabilities, and gaps that surface in your deals to help shape the roadmap. - Product Marketing: work with Product Marketing to understand and apply messaging and positioning in your deal cycles, and contribute to reusable assets like demo scripts and competitive battlecards. - Customer Success: brief Customer Success on technical context and champion relationships at handover, so your POCs and pilots convert cleanly into production deployments. - Enablement: Review and enhance enablement content from what is effective in preparing our team members for client engagements, delivering and evaluating certification as needed to accelerate understanding in the commercial team. What we are looking for - We think the ideal candidate for this role will bring 5+ years of pre-sales, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical experience at SaaS companies. - Strong consultative discovery, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with both executive decision-makers (CHRO, CLO, Head of L&D, CTO) and technical audiences (IT, security, developers). - Technical depth in at least one area: Creation flows, APIs, integrations (LMS, HCM, CRM, identity), security, compliance; willingness to learn quickly across domains. - Fluency with sales methodologies such as MEDDPICC and Command of the Message. Comfort translating technical requirements into business value and ROI conversations. - Consultative approach to problem-solving; comfort gathering requirements, asking clarifying questions, and adapting solutions to customer needs. - Excellent business and technical presentation skills, in person and remote, and the ability to explain complex AI and integration concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Self-motivated and organized; ability to manage multiple POCs, demos, and customer conversations simultaneously while meeting deadlines. - Collaborative mindset; thrives working with AEs, Product, Customer Success, and other teams to drive customer and company success. - Product orientation; genuine curiosity about how customers use technology - Willing to travel; willingness to visit key customers for discovery, executive conversations, and on-site demos. Location We’re ideally looking for someone based in Paris who can spend time in our office at 40 Rue du Colisée, 75008 Paris, or someone based in the UK who can spend time in our London office at 20 Triton Street, Regent’s Place, London NW1 3BF. Please confirm where you are located and whether you can spend two days a week in either location.
