Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

Base is what you're guaranteed. OTE and the median show the upside.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

Full posting
Outside Sales Representative – B2B Referral Accounts RestorePro | Greater Fayetteville Metro Area | Field-based (on the road) $60K–$70K base salary + uncapped commission | $100K+ income potential | Company vehicle, gas card & full benefits It’s 2 a.m. A supply line fails on the third floor of a 200-unit apartment community. Water is moving through ceilings. The property manager doesn’t search online. She calls the company she already trusts. Your job is to make sure that call goes to RestorePro, and to build enough of those relationships that it happens all over your territory. You’ll Be Walking In With a Name People Know Building a territory for a company nobody has heard of is hard. That’s not this job. RestorePro has served the greater Fayetteville area since 1998 and has completed tens of thousands of restoration projects. As part of the Fleet Response family of companies, we can take on any size project, up to area-wide disasters. When you sit down with a facility director or an insurance agent, you aren’t asking them to take a chance on you. You’re giving them a reason to make RestorePro their first call. Why the Work Compounds Most outside sales roles reset every month. Close a deal, start over. This one builds on itself, because the people you’ll work with run into property damage again and again: • A plumber walks into water losses every week. • A property manager may oversee hundreds of units. • An insurance agent or adjuster works with a whole book of property owners. • A facility manager may be responsible for several buildings. • A senior living or healthcare administrator can’t afford downtime when something goes wrong. Earn the trust of one of these people and you don’t get one job. You get a source that can keep sending work for years. Your territory is protected, so the network you build stays yours. What a Week Actually Looks Like This is a hunting role with a relationship payoff. You won’t succeed waiting for the phone to ring. A typical week might include: • Stopping by plumbing and HVAC shops to introduce yourself and RestorePro • Face-to-face meetings with property managers and multifamily groups • Discovery conversations with facility managers about their emergency plans • Following up with insurance agents and adjusters you met the week before • An association meeting or after-hours industry event • Explaining mitigation and restoration services to partners in plain terms • Logging activity and updating your pipeline in the CRM (laptop and iPad provided) • Handing a new opportunity to operations and staying involved until the client is taken care of Leadership, operations, and marketing are set up to support business development. You’ll have structure behind you. You’ll still be expected to execute. Where You Should Be in 6–12 Months • A referral network that’s producing real opportunities • A steady rhythm of qualified weekly meetings • A pipeline you can see growing • Your name, and RestorePro’s, recognized by the people in your territory who matter most • Income trending toward $100K+ The path is simple: activity, then relationships, then opportunities, then revenue. Ready to Represent a Name the Market Trusts? If you want to build something that lasts, with an established company behind you, apply today. Tell us briefly about the best business relationship you’ve built and how it paid off. We’ll take it from there. Requirements Who We’re Looking For You’ve spent at least two years in B2B outside sales and you’re comfortable starting conversations with people who didn’t ask to hear from you. You’d rather earn a referral partner for life than push a one-time sale. You’ll probably do well here if you: • Like building a territory from the ground up • Follow through without being chased • Can tell a high-value relationship from a busy one, and spend your time accordingly • Present clearly to decision-makers • Take coaching well but don’t wait for direction Helpful but not required: experience selling services to commercial clients, or a background in restoration, insurance, property management, multifamily, healthcare, hospitality, or senior living. If you’ve built relationships in any of those worlds, they’ll matter here. Must-haves: • 2+ years of B2B outside sales experience • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record • Ability to pass a background screening • Comfort managing pipeline and activity in a CRM • Availability for in-person meetings and networking events across the territory, including some after-hours events Benefits The Full Package • $60K–$70K base salary • Uncapped commission • $100K+ income potential • Company vehicle, plus gas card and company credit card • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance • HSA/FSA • 401(k) with up to a 4% company match • Unlimited PTO, paid sick time, and 7 paid holidays • Company laptop and iPad with tech support • Room to grow with a company that’s expanding in its market
