Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

Base is what you're guaranteed. OTE and the median show the upside.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

Outside Sales Representative – Restoration Services B2B Sales in Disaster Restoration | Greater Ann Arbor Metro & Southeast Michigan | Field-Based $65K–$75K Base + Uncapped Commission | $100K+ Income Potential | Company Vehicle or Vehicle Allowance Build a territory from scratch. Skip the part where nobody knows who you are. Building a new territory usually means doing the work twice. First you earn the meeting. Then you spend months convincing people the company behind you will actually show up. In this role, the second half is already handled. Cousino Restoration & Environmental has been serving Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan for more than 60 years and has completed tens of thousands of restoration projects. As part of the Fleet Response family of companies, we can take on projects of any size, up to area-wide disasters. Your job is to take that track record into the Ann Arbor market and turn it into relationships that are yours. Why This Kind of Selling Pays Off You won't be selling to one homeowner at a time. You'll be building relationships with professionals who run into property damage over and over: • Insurance agents and adjusters, who work with many property owners • Property managers and multifamily groups, who may oversee hundreds of units • Facility managers at commercial properties • Plumbers, HVAC companies, and contractors, who are often first on site when something goes wrong • Senior living and healthcare facilities, where fast, reliable response matters most When one of these relationships starts trusting you, it can keep producing opportunities long after the first introduction. Each new partner adds to the base the next year's income is built on. What a Week Actually Looks Like This is outside sales, and the results come from your activity. A typical week includes: • Walking into property management offices, insurance agencies, and contractor shops to introduce yourself and the company • Prospecting new referral partners by phone, cold outreach, and in person • Holding consultative discovery meetings to learn how a partner handles losses today • Explaining our emergency response, mitigation, and restoration capabilities in plain terms • Attending association meetings, networking functions, and some after-hours industry events • Following up consistently and keeping your pipeline current in CRM • Working with operations and leadership so the relationships you've built are well served when a project comes in You'll have a proven system for building referral pipelines, plus leadership that understands sales. You'll still be the one creating the opportunities. If you do your best work when the phone is already ringing, this role probably isn't the right match. Where You Should Be in 6–12 Months • A referral network that's sending real opportunities your way • A steady rhythm of weekly meetings with partners and prospects • A pipeline you can see growing • Professionals in the territory recognizing your name and the company's • Income trending toward $100K+ The progression is simple: activity builds relationships, relationships create opportunities, and opportunities become revenue. Why This Territory Is Worth Owning This is a protected territory, so the relationships you build stay with you. Our sales, operations, and marketing teams work together, so business development is built into the company and not handled as an afterthought. You bring the drive to build. We bring six decades of reputation and an operation that can deliver on what you promise. If building a market around a name that already has a strong track record sounds like the right next move, apply today. Work Location: On the road Requirements You'll Do Well Here If You… • Have 2+ years of B2B outside sales experience • Like opening doors and earning a second meeting • Care more about relationships that last years than a quick close • Can manage your own calendar and still hold yourself accountable to numbers • Take coaching well without needing someone to direct every step • Can tell which prospects are worth the most time • Present clearly and comfortably to business owners and managers Preferred: Experience selling services to commercial clients. A plus, not required: Background in restoration, insurance, property management, multifamily, healthcare, hospitality, or senior living. The Basics • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation • Ability to pass a background screening • Ability to attend in-person meetings and events throughout the territory • Comfort using CRM, phone, tablet, and web-based tools to manage pipeline, scheduling, and follow-up Benefits Compensation & Benefits Pay • $65,000–$75,000 base salary • Uncapped commission • $100K+ income potential Getting Around • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance • Gas card / company credit card • Laptop, phone, and technology support Health & Financial • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance • HSA/FSA • 401(k) with up to 4% company match Time Off • Unlimited PTO • Paid sick time • 7 paid holidays
