Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Ask: “What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?”

The job

What you'd do
Call and email businesses that aren't customers yet to book meetings for our salespeople, who handle the closing. You'll book most of your own meetings.
Who you'd sell to
Not stated in the posting.Ask: “Who's the economic buyer, and who else is in the deal?”
Where deals come from
Mostly you. Expect a lot of outbound: cold calls, emails and LinkedIn.

The Braun Read

Proceed with caution

A few things here deserve a hard look before you spend time on it.

Pay
No pay listed at all.
Transparency
Says nothing about quota, attainment, deal size, territory or sales cycle.
Time on market
Open 16 days.
Company hiring
113 sales roles open, hiring at a steady pace. Ask how many reps they hired last year and how many are still there.

Red lights

  • "Unlimited earnings," no numbers. It sells uncapped or unlimited earnings but never says what anyone actually earns.
  • Hustle-culture language. Words like rockstar, grind, work hard / play hard, or "no excuses" usually mean long hours and high turnover.

Green lights

None spotted.

Based only on what the posting says. Lights are a starting point for your first call, not a final judgment.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What did the median rep and the top rep actually earn last year?

"Unlimited" is a ceiling, not a number. You need the median.

  2. 2.

What hours do your best reps actually work?

Hustle language in a posting often shows up in your calendar.

  3. 3.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  4. 4.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  5. 5.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

This isn't just a BDR/SDR job. It’s a long-term seat, and we pay like we mean it. Effectively Remote We’re a small, close-knit facility services company (Company, NOT a family. Your family is your family.) in the South Bay, and we’re looking for someone who wants to settle in, own the top of our sales funnel, and get paid well for doing it. This isn’t a revolving-door SDR seat where you dial numbers for six months and move on. We want someone who sticks around, and we’ll pay you to stay. We don’t care if your only experience is in hospitality, retail, or digging ditches. If you’re engaging and persuasive, if you’ve got hustle and you’re coachable, and you can stay disciplined while working from home, we want to talk to you. Location: Remote, but preferably within 2 hours of San Jose. What the role actually is This is a fully remote, high-activity role. Your job is to start conversations and book appointments. You do NOT have to close deals. Our salespeople handle the close. You open the door, they walk through it, and you get paid on both ends (we’ll pay you 10% commission on deals you set appointments for that close). You won’t be dialing with nothing in your hands, either. We back your outreach with creative drop-offs that we deliver for you. Our favorite is a toy trash can with a crumpled letter in it, designed to spark interest and stimulate a conversation. What you’ll be doing - Making phone calls. A lot of them. This is the heart of the job. - Following up with people diligently. Most appointments happen on the fourth or fifth touch, not the first. - Using email, phone, and our creative drop-offs together to turn cold accounts into booked meetings. - Researching the real decision-makers at target accounts and keeping that contact info up to date in HubSpot. - Logging every call, email, and touch in HubSpot so nothing falls through the cracks. - Qualifying appointments against a clear scorecard before they go to a salesperson. The path forward We’re not tracking you into a closing role. We’re building a high-earning SDR career. Once you’re consistently setting appointments that actually close, you’ll get a large base raise. We’ll lay out exactly what that looks like from day one, so there’s no guessing about where you stand. Compensation - Base: $24 an hour, about $50,000 a year - $100 per qualified appointment set - 10% of the first month’s revenue on every deal that closes from your appointments - Uncapped. There’s no ceiling on what you can earn. - A large base raise once your appointments are consistently closing Here’s what that can look like: Say you set 12 qualified appointments a month. That’s $1,200 a month, or $14,400 a year, just for booking meetings. Now say 3 of those close each month, at an average contract of $4,000 a month. At 10% of the first month, that’s another $1,200 a month, or $14,400 a year, for deals you didn’t have to close. That’s roughly $78,800 in year one before your base raise kicks in. Set more meetings, or set better ones, and that number climbs. What we’re looking for - Someone who can grind. This is a high-activity job, and the phone is your best friend. - Self-driven. You’re remote, so nobody is looking over your shoulder. You have to show up for yourself. - Comfortable with rejection and persistent anyway. - Organized. If it’s not in HubSpot, it didn’t happen. - Someone who wants to stay. We’re looking for a long-term teammate, not a résumé line. What you get from us - A fully remote role with real support behind it. - Creative drop-offs and marketing that make your calls easier. - Uncapped commission on both appointments and closed deals. - A team that’s small enough that we actually know you and care whether you’re winning. - A clear, honest path to a big base raise, with the benchmarks laid out up front. How to apply Find the Managing Partner of City Wide of San Jose on LinkedIn and message him why you’d be great at getting a stranger to say yes to a meeting. Requirements - High School Diploma - Prior recruiting, or similar experience, highly desired - A self-starter with attention to detail and follow-up - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Benefits City Wide Facility Solutions offers a competitive compensation and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, PTO, and 401k.
