Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

Base is what you're guaranteed. OTE and the median show the upside.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

This is a true hunter role. You'll prospect for new business, meet with commercial decision-makers, uncover facility-service needs, develop customized solutions, present proposals, negotiate agreements, and close business. Then our operations and client-retention teams take over the ongoing relationship—and you go win the next one. You sell. We retain. If you love the hunt, want to be rewarded for your performance, and don't want your success to eventually turn you into an account manager, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for. You'll be stepping into a diamond territory with a largely untapped market of more than 1.8 million people, presenting an exceptional opportunity for a motivated, results-driven Sales Executive. With tremendous growth potential and a vast customer base waiting to be developed, this is your chance to hit the ground running, build strong business relationships, and capitalize on an outstanding B2B sales opportunity from day one. What You'll Do · Build and maintain a strong pipeline of net-new B2B opportunities · Generate opportunities through cold calling, email, networking, referrals, and face-to-face prospecting · Connect with business owners, executives, property managers, facility managers, operations leaders, and other commercial decision-makers · Conduct discovery meetings and facility walkthroughs to uncover operational challenges and service needs · Develop and present customized facility-service solutions · Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and close · Maintain consistent, professional follow-up throughout the sales process · Manage your territory, pipeline, opportunities, and activity within the company CRM · Meet or exceed weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual new-business goals · Successfully transition new clients to our operations team—then get back out and win the next one Who We're Looking For We're looking for a professional B2B salesperson who knows how to hunt. You should be comfortable creating opportunities instead of waiting for leads. You know how to reach decision-makers, ask great questions, uncover business problems, present solutions, overcome objections, negotiate, and ask for the business. Strong candidates should be able to share specific examples of their past sales success, including the new business they generated, sales goals they achieved, and how they personally found and closed new customers. Our Team & Culture At City Wide of Fort Walton, we believe success is about more than individual performance. We win as a team. We've built a culture centered around teamwork, accountability, respect, and supporting one another. We work hard, celebrate our successes together, and believe the best teams are made up of people who genuinely care about the people they work alongside. Family matters to us. We understand that our employees have lives, families, and responsibilities outside of work, and we believe you can be highly driven and successful professionally while still making the people who matter most in your life a priority. We're looking for someone who wants to compete, succeed, and grow—but who also wants to be part of a team where people support each other and enjoy winning together. Why City Wide? We help businesses manage janitorial services and more than 20 additional facility solutions, giving our Sales Executives multiple ways to solve problems and create value for prospective clients. You'll have the autonomy to manage your territory and build your business, backed by training, coaching, resources, and an operations team designed to retain what you sell. Then go do it again. Requirements · 2+ years of successful outside B2B sales or new-business development experience · Proven ability to generate your own pipeline through outbound prospecting · Experience managing a professional B2B sales cycle from initial contact through close · Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales goals · Strong prospecting, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills · Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through · Experience using a CRM to manage pipeline and sales activity · Ability to independently manage a territory and prioritize opportunities · Competitive, self-motivated, persistent, and results-driven Experience selling recurring commercial services, facility services, or directly to property and facility decision-makers is a plus—but facility-services experience is not required. We can teach our industry. We're looking for people who already know how to sell.
