Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What are the base and the OTE for this role?

No point investing hours before you know the number.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

German-Speaking Business Development Executive – Part-Time Love the thrill of opening doors that weren’t open yesterday? We’re looking for a driven, energetic Business Development Executive who knows how to turn a cold prospect into a real conversation — and a real conversation into a qualified sales opportunity. This is a part-time opportunity for someone who enjoys prospecting, connecting, influencing and winning, and who wants the flexibility of working on a part-time basis. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to sit back and wait for leads to arrive. It’s for someone who enjoys prospecting, connecting, influencing and winning. You’ll be joining one of our clients, an exciting technology-focused organisation providing solutions to businesses looking to improve their e-commerce, returns and customer experience processes, and playing a key role in building their pipeline across the German-speaking market. Experience selling SaaS, e-commerce technology, retail technology, returns management, logistics, customer experience solutions or other B2B technology solutions would be particularly relevant. If you’re naturally curious, commercially minded and motivated by seeing your name on the scoreboard, we want to hear from you. What you'll be doing You’ll be at the front line of new business — identifying the right companies, finding the right people and starting conversations that matter. Your day will include: - Hunting for new opportunities and identifying high-potential prospects across the German-speaking market. - Creating conversations through a multi-channel approach — telephone, email and LinkedIn. - Engaging prospects and building relationships from the very first interaction. - Booking high-quality meetings and creating Sales Qualified Leads for the sales team. - Understanding prospect needs and qualifying opportunities against agreed criteria. - Keeping the momentum high, managing a consistent volume of outbound activity while maintaining quality. - Owning your CRM activity in Salesforce, ensuring account data, activity, qualification details and market feedback are accurate and up to date. - Working closely with Enterprise Sales and Inside Sales to turn qualified opportunities into pipeline. - Tracking your performance, understanding what works and continually improving your approach. - Helping evolve the sales process, sharing market insight and ideas that can make the team even more effective. - Hitting — and ideally smashing — your monthly qualified-lead targets. Requirements Who are we looking for? We’re looking for someone who gets genuinely excited by new business. Someone who doesn't hear "cold call" and immediately reach for the coffee machine. You’ll ideally have: - 2+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally selling IT technologies, SaaS, e-commerce, retail technology, logistics, customer experience solutions or similar. - A genuine passion for prospecting and new business development. - Experience with cold calling, email outreach, LinkedIn and account-based prospecting. - A high-energy, resilient and positive attitude. - The ability to handle a high volume of outbound activity without losing focus or enthusiasm. - A competitive mindset — you want to win, but you also know how to be a great teammate. - Strong commercial instincts and the ability to identify what makes a prospect worth pursuing. - Confidence using Salesforce or other CRM and sales-engagement platforms. - Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise when things get busy. - The creativity to try something different. Ready to make an impact? If you're a fluent German-speaking B2B technology salesperson who loves the hunt, thrives on targets and wants to build something rather than simply manage what's already there, Excelerate360 would love to hear from you. Fluent German, spoken and written, is a non-negotiable requirement for this role. Apply now — and let's start a conversation. Benefits - 21 Annual leave days in year 1, rising to 25 days (plus bank holidays) - Christmas Closure - Staff Benefits - Ongoing expert training and support - Opportunity for advancement - We promote a growth culture - Great fun, team environment - Remote working optional
