Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What are the base and the OTE for this role?

No point investing hours before you know the number.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

Sales Development Representative Location: London — Hybrid Department: Marketing Reports to: VP Marketing About Landytech Landytech is the company behind Sesame, the investment management platform that gives family offices, trust companies, private banks and other sophisticated asset owners a single, reliable view of their wealth. We help firms consolidate data across 500+ custodians, run institutional-grade analytics, automate investment reporting and collaborate without the usual spreadsheet chaos. Our mission is to revolutionise access to investment data and insights from one central platform. We are a high-growth B2B fintech, backed by Aquiline Technology Growth, with offices in London, Paris and Pune. Being part of Landytech means joining a team of ambitious people solving some of the hardest problems in investment technology. The Role We are hiring a Sales Development Representative to create and progress qualified pipeline for Sales. Sitting within Marketing and reporting to the VP Marketing, you will work daily with Sales and closely with Growth, Product Marketing and Partnerships. You will own inbound qualification, run targeted outbound activity against defined ICP accounts and book high-quality meetings for the sales team. This is not a traditional high-volume SDR role. Our buyers are senior people in family offices, trust companies and private banks, so the work is consultative, account-based and quality-led. You will need strong commercial judgement, clear communication and the confidence to represent Landytech credibly. The role also has a strong systems mindset. We are actively automating parts of inbound and outbound activity, including conversational qualification and routing. We want someone who uses AI, CRM and GTM tools to work smarter, identifies repetitive work that should not stay manual and helps us improve the SDR operating model over time. If you are excited by modern GTM — HubSpot, sequencing, routing, website chat and thoughtful automation — while still enjoying conversations with sophisticated financial-services prospects, this could be a great fit. What You’ll Be Doing - Own and qualify inbound leads, including demo requests, website conversations and other high-intent enquiries, with fast and high-quality follow-up. - Run targeted outbound activity against defined ICP accounts and campaigns, using research and personalisation rather than generic high-volume outreach. - Book qualified meetings for Sales and maintain disciplined follow-up so good conversations do not stall. - Prepare clean handoffs to Sales, including relevant context, qualification notes and clear next steps. - Work with Marketing on ABM campaigns, events and campaign follow-up, turning interest into pipeline. - Represent Landytech credibly in selected prospect conversations and occasional events. - Keep HubSpot accurate and current and help ensure leads and opportunities are routed to the right person. - Support experiments with new channels, messaging and prospecting approaches, then double down on what works. - Identify repetitive SDR work that can be automated and help implement or improve those workflows alongside Marketing and Sales. - Use our GTM stack effectively — including HubSpot, sequencing and prospecting tools, routing, website chat/conversational tools and AI-assisted workflows — to increase productivity without replacing judgement. What We’re Looking For You are likely to succeed in this role if you are: - Commercially confident and articulate, with the presence to speak to senior financial-services prospects. - Proactive, organised and reliable when it comes to follow-up. - Strong with CRM and GTM systems, ideally HubSpot. - Curious about AI, automation and workflow design and see them as ways to do better work. - Analytical enough to spot process inefficiencies and practical enough to help fix them. - Comfortable operating within a lean GTM team without needing a rigid playbook for every situation. - Fluent in English; an additional language would be a plus. Experience - Typically 2+ years' experience in sales development, BDR or a similar commercial role, ideally within B2B SaaS. - Financial-services or fintech experience is useful, but not essential if you can learn a complex proposition quickly and hold a credible conversation. - Experience with sequencing or prospecting platforms, routing tools, website chat or AI/automation workflows would be a strong advantage. This Role May Not Be For You If You Want - A high-volume, script-only SDR role measured primarily on the number of dials and emails sent. - A software engineering or RevOps-only role with little prospect interaction. - A fully documented enterprise playbook before you can get started. Why Landytech? High growth We are growing quickly, with international expansion underway. Ownership Responsibility comes quickly, and all new employees receive stock options after successfully completing their probationary period. Career pathway There are clear routes from this role into senior sales development, Sales, Marketing or GTM systems career paths. Expertise You will get hands-on learning from people who know this market exceptionally well. Collaboration You will work closely across Marketing and Sales and in collaboration with our product teams. Transparency We believe in shared dashboards, clear KPIs and regular Q&A sessions with our CEO. How to Apply If this sounds like you, apply with your CV and a short note explaining why the role interests you. We are particularly interested in hearing about examples of pipeline you have created, how you have worked with CRM and GTM tools, and any automation or process improvements you have helped put in place. Our Benefits - An opportunity to work in a fast growing fintech revolutionizing investment reporting - Hybrid style of work/2 days working from our office in London - Stock options, bonus & commission schemes depending on your role - Private medical insurance with Bupa for you and your family members - Pension Plan with NEST - Cycle to Work Scheme and gym allowance - Office food & drinks, regular socials If this sounds like you, we are looking forward to hearing from you!
