The Braun Read

Ask hard questions

Too much is left unsaid. Make them answer before you invest.

Pay
Base is listed but not OTE. Ask what the variable is and how many people hit it.
Transparency

Pipeline
Doesn't say where pipeline comes from. Ask.

Company hiring
2 sales roles open, hiring at a steady pace.

Red lights

None spotted.

Yellow lights

  • Player-coach. You'd lead a team and work deals yourself. Ask whether you carry a personal quota and how your pay splits between the two.

Green lights

None spotted.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

How is time split between managing the team and carrying your own number?

Two jobs, one paycheck. Find out which one wins when time runs out.

  2. 2.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  3. 3.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

Base is what you're guaranteed. OTE and the median show the upside.

  4. 4.

What's the annual quota, and how was it set?

A quota built from real data is a target. Otherwise it's a hope.

  5. 5.

Where does pipeline come from: inbound, SDRs, or me?

Tells you how much of your week is prospecting versus selling.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

About Miami Family Law Group Miami Family Law Group, PLLC serves clients across Florida in family law, estate planning, probate, and guardianship matters. We are lean, driven, and deeply committed to the people we serve. We are growing, and that growth starts with who answers the phone, books the call, and builds the relationship before a client ever signs a retainer. The Opportunity We are looking for a Sales Manager who leads by example. This is a player-coach role: you will personally conduct discovery calls, close retained matters, coach your team, and hold the entire sales operation accountable to results. You will own our conversion metrics, manage the HubSpot pipeline, and serve as the bridge between marketing, intake, and the legal team. This is a senior role with real ownership and direct access to firm leadership. This is a player-coach role. You will be expected to personally conduct discovery calls with prospective new clients and hold your team to the same standard you model on every call. What You Will Do • Lead, coach, and develop the sales and intake team on discovery call performance, conversion best practices, objection handling, and client communication standards. • Personally conduct discovery calls with prospective clients, modeling the firm's intake process and closing retained matters. • Own conversion metrics from first contact to signed retainer, and hold the team accountable to weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets. • Manage all lead stages in HubSpot, including hot, warm, and cold follow-up pipelines, ensuring no prospect falls through the cracks. • Run weekly pipeline reviews and deliver regular sales performance reports to firm leadership. • Identify gaps in conversion, call quality, and lead response times, then build and execute corrective action plans. • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and firm Owner on intake process improvements, pricing strategy, and new matter scripting. • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of sales and intake staff. • Maintain accurate deal stages, contact records, and activity logs in HubSpot at all times. What Success Looks Like in This Role • Discovery call conversion rates improve within the first 90 days • Every lead in HubSpot has a clear next step with no gaps in follow-up. • The team can articulate the firm's value proposition and retainer structure confidently. • Weekly pipeline reviews are structured, data-backed, and actionable • Your calls set the standard for what great discovery looks like. What We Offer • Base salary of $90,000 to $120,000 commensurate with experience, plus performance-based bonus tied to team conversion metrics. • Direct access to firm leadership and a seat at the table on growth strategy. • A firm that invests in its team, values accountability, and rewards performance. • The opportunity to build and shape a sales operation from the ground up. We do not hire managers who manage from the sidelines. If you need to see it done right, you will do it yourself first. If that is how you operate, we want to meet you. How to Apply Send your resume and a brief introduction to mflgrecrutingnl@gmail.com. In your email, tell us about a specific sales result you are proud of and how you achieved it. Applications that do not include this will not be considered. Miami Family Law Group is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive team. Requirements • Minimum 5 years of sales management experience with a proven track record of hitting and exceeding conversion targets. • Demonstrated ability to personally sell, not just manage others who do. You get on calls and close. • Proficiency in HubSpot CRM, including pipeline management, deal stages, reporting, and workflow automation. • Exceptional verbal communication skills: you build rapport quickly, handle objections confidently, and guide prospects to a decision. • Strong coaching instincts: you can listen to a recorded call, pinpoint what went wrong, and teach someone how to fix it. • Data-driven mindset, comfortable with metrics and holding yourself and others to measurable outcomes. • Experience in a legal, professional services, or consultative sales environment is strongly preferred.
