Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Ask hard questions

Too much is left unsaid. Make them answer before you invest.

Pay
Base is listed but not OTE. Ask what the variable is and how many people hit it.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

Base is what you're guaranteed. OTE and the median show the upside.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

About Oath Oath is the strategic giving platform designed to help donors maximize the impact of their contributions by guiding them to the races and causes where their dollars can make the greatest impact. Oath has directed over $150M while protecting donors' data and avoiding the spam and spin of other giving platforms. As the one stop shop for a generation of donors who want to make a difference, Oath is building the future of philanthropy. The Partnerships team owns Oath's relationships with the organizations that move money at scale: PACs, donor networks, party committees, and bundlers. Partners use Oath to direct their giving to the races that matter most, and we make it better, faster, and smarter. This role leads that team into the 2028 presidential cycle. The Opportunity You'll lead Oath's strategy for organizational partners, one of our three growth pillars. Your mission is to grow partner-driven giving for 2028 by signing, growing, and retaining the organizations whose members want to give strategically. Most 2028 partner agreements will be signed in 2027. You'll own that strategy: who we partner with, what we offer them, how we credit their results, and how we keep them coming back cycle after cycle. This role combines business development with account leadership and reporting. You'll have the autonomy to set strategy, shape the partner offering, and grow the team. Key Responsibilities - Own the partnerships strategy end-to-end: Set the partner strategy, target list, and calendar, aligned to Oath's priorities and the 2028 cycle - Build the pipeline and close new partners: Identify, pitch, and close PACs, donor collectives, party committees, and progressive organizations - Own the enterprise offer: Set pricing, fee-for-service terms, co-branded packages, and reporting commitments - Deliver partner reporting: Use internal systems and AI to deliver accurate reports that show each partner the donations their work drove - Report, measure, and iterate: Build and own pipeline, revenue, retention, and partner-driven giving reporting. - Partner cross-functionally: Bring partner needs to Product so the platform serves organizations as well as individual donors. Ensure alignment between partnerships, marketing, and product roadmap Requirements - Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the United States. - 6+ years in partnerships, business development, or sales, including at least 3 years managing teams - Proven track record closing and growing sales accounts, with numbers to show for it - Ownership mindset: comfortable building processes and teams from scratch and iterating quickly - Data-literate: can read and build dashboards, question an attribution model, and explain results in plain language - Ideally a working knowledge of campaign finance rules, and the judgment to know when to call counsel - Mission-driven: genuine interest in progressive politics and donor engagement Benefits - Base Salary: $150k-$200k - Equity package - Health Insurance: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage - Retirement: 401(k) matching - Time Off: Flexible PTO - Office: 3 days per week in our NYC headquarters; flexible remote work for the other 2 days
