Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Ask: “What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?”

  • Clear path to promotion. The posting spells out a path to the next role, like SDR to AE. Ask how long it took the last few people and what they had to hit.

Based only on what the posting says. Lights are a starting point for your first call, not a final judgment.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

Base is what you're guaranteed. OTE and the median show the upside.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

About Ordr ORDR helps organizations understand every connected asset, prioritize risk, and turn intelligence into action. Our platform combines device intelligence, segmentation, and multi-agent AI to help security, networking, and biomedical teams protect critical environments and simplify operations. About the Role ORDR is looking for an Inside Sales Representative with a hunter mindset and the drive to turn prospect interest into qualified opportunities. If you’ve spent 2–3 years as an SDR in cybersecurity and are ready to own more of the sales conversation, this role gives you room to grow. You’ll own the early stages of account engagement, from identifying prospects and opening doors to leading discovery and building relationships. Your focus will be on understanding what matters to each customer, connecting their challenges to ORDR’s value, and maintaining momentum until the opportunity is ready for a Sales Director to lead the commercial engagement. You’ll partner with our sales and technical teams to sharpen your discovery skills, deepen your product knowledge, and develop sound sales judgment. Success means creating qualified pipeline and giving Sales Directors the context they need to advance opportunities. As you demonstrate performance and readiness, the role offers a path toward a full Account Executive position based on business needs. What You’ll Do · Strategic Account Research: Research target accounts and identify relevant security, IT, networking, and biomedical stakeholders. · Multichannel Engagement: Engage prospects through personalized email, phone, LinkedIn, and other approved channels. · Inbound and Outbound Pipeline Execution: Secure first meetings with new prospects through account-based outbound outreach and high-intent inbound inquiries, events, and marketing campaigns. · Lead Discovery Conversations: Conduct initial discovery conversations independently or alongside senior reps to understand customer challenges, current infrastructure environments, business priorities, and timing. · Qualify Opportunities: Validate opportunities by identifying a relevant technical use case, compelling event, buying process, and agreed-upon next steps. · Account Development and Nurturing: Nurture complex accounts through ongoing educational conversations and relationship building until ready to involve a Sales Director. Coordinate a seamless transition to keep accounts from stalling. · Account Briefings: Brief Sales Directors on account context, stakeholder needs, technical discovery findings, and clear next steps. · Data Integrity: Maintain accurate account information, activity records, detailed qualification notes, and next steps within the CRM. · Continuous Learning: Build expertise in ORDR’s platform, customer use cases, and the broader cybersecurity market. Requirements What You Bring · 2–3 years of SDR/BDR experience at a cybersecurity or complex B2B SaaS company, with a proven track record of meeting pipeline targets. · A hunter mindset: You proactively identify and pursue new accounts, open doors with cold outreach, and create opportunities through persistent, thoughtful follow-up. You are motivated by winning new business and comfortable initiating conversations with prospects who may not yet know ORDR. · A strong desire to build on meeting generation skills through discovery and account development. · Strong professional presence and communication skills, with the ability to make outreach relevant to technical and senior business stakeholders. · Intellectual curiosity, with the ability to ask thoughtful questions, listen actively, and connect customer pain points to business value. · Strong organization, proactive follow-through, and attention to detail. · Proficiency using CRM systems and modern sales engagement tools. · Sound commercial judgment regarding when to continue developing an account and when to hand off to a Sales Director. · Helpful experience: Networking infrastructure, healthcare technology management (HTM), or prospecting into large, complex organizations. What Success Looks Like Success in this role is measured by qualified pipeline and opportunities accepted by Sales Directors. You will meet your targets by developing four core capabilities: High-Quality Qualification: Ensure prospects handed to a Sales Director have a clear business or technical need, relevant stakeholder engagement, and agreed-upon next steps. Understand budget, timing, and the buying process as they emerge through discovery. Sales Director Alignment: Work closely with your three assigned Sales Directors to understand their territories and priorities, allowing you to target and qualify accounts with a strong fit for ORDR. Effective Handoff Execution: Provide clear, concise, and structured account briefs that detail the prospect’s infrastructure, challenges, stakeholder needs, and next steps, positioning the Sales Director to advance the opportunity. Continuous Skill Progression: Progress from participating in calls alongside senior reps to owning independent discovery. As your knowledge of ORDR and the cybersecurity landscape grows, strengthen your ability to uncover customer needs and consistently meet quarterly pipeline milestones.
