Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Ask: “What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?”

The Braun Read

Ask hard questions

Too much is left unsaid. Make them answer before you invest.

Pay
Base is listed but not OTE. Ask what the variable is and how many people hit it.
Transparency
Says nothing about quota, attainment, deal size, territory or sales cycle.
Pipeline
Mostly self-sourced. Great if you like outbound, rough if you don't.
Time on market
Open 30 days. Normal, but not fresh.
Company hiring
This is their only open sales role.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

Base is what you're guaranteed. OTE and the median show the upside.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

Company Overview: ResPro Sleep is dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of obstructive sleep apnea. We connect patients and referring providers with board-certified sleep specialists and experienced respiratory therapists through a convenient, connected model that supports timely diagnosis, therapy coordination, patient education, and ongoing compliance. Our team works closely with physicians, healthcare organizations, channel partners, and other professionals in the sleep and respiratory space to simplify the sleep-care process and help more patients successfully manage their sleep apnea. Position Overview: ResPro Sleep is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Sales Representative to help expand our presence across an assigned territory. This is a field-based sales position focused on building new business, developing strategic relationships, and growing long-term partnerships with channel partners, physician practices, sleep specialists, pulmonologists, and other healthcare organizations. The ideal candidate is a proven healthcare sales professional who knows how to identify opportunities, build relationships with decision-makers, and turn those relationships into meaningful business growth. Experience in respiratory, sleep medicine, CPAP, home sleep testing, sleep diagnostics, medical device, pharmaceutical, or related healthcare sales is strongly preferred. This is an opportunity for a sales professional who wants to own their territory, build a strong market presence, and play a meaningful role in the growth of a rapidly expanding sleep company. Key Responsibilities: - Own and develop your assigned territory by identifying opportunities, building relationships, and creating a consistent pipeline of new business. - Prospect for and develop relationships with channel partners, physicians, pulmonologists, sleep physicians, sleep practices, primary care providers, and other healthcare organizations. - Identify and pursue high-value opportunities with practices, referral sources, and organizations involved in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea. - Develop relationships with key decision-makers and become a trusted resource for healthcare partners seeking to improve access to sleep care and patient outcomes. - Introduce prospective partners to ResPro Sleep's services and clearly communicate how our model can streamline sleep apnea diagnosis, home sleep testing, treatment coordination, patient education, and ongoing patient support. - Build and expand relationships with organizations involved in CPAP and sleep therapy. - Conduct in-person sales calls, presentations, meetings, educational sessions, and business-development activities throughout the assigned territory. - Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline through cold calling, networking, referrals, in-person prospecting, industry relationships, and other business-development strategies. - Identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and increase utilization of ResPro Sleep services. - Work closely with internal clinical, enrollment, operations, and leadership teams to ensure a smooth transition from sales to implementation and ongoing account growth. - Maintain regular communication with partners and identify opportunities for additional services, increased utilization, and long-term growth. - Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, contacts, and follow-up in the company's CRM or designated systems. - Monitor market trends, competitive activity, referral patterns, and opportunities within the assigned territory. - Represent ResPro Sleep at industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, provider meetings, and other professional events as needed. - Consistently work toward and meet established sales and business-development goals. - Represent ResPro Sleep professionally and maintain a high level of integrity in all interactions with healthcare partners. Requirements We are looking for a high-performing sales professional who knows how to build business, not simply maintain existing accounts. The ideal candidate will have: - 2+ years of successful healthcare, DME, respiratory, sleep, medical device, pharmaceutical, or related B2B sales experience preferred. - Experience selling to DME companies, physician practices, pulmonologists, sleep physicians, or other healthcare providers strongly preferred. - Experience with CPAP, home sleep testing, sleep diagnostics, respiratory products/services, or sleep therapy is highly desirable. - Existing relationships within the DME, respiratory, pulmonary, sleep, or physician practice community are highly desirable. - A proven track record of developing new business and meeting or exceeding sales goals. - Demonstrated ability to prospect, network, present, negotiate, close, and grow business. - Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to develop credibility with physicians, practice leaders, and other healthcare decision-makers. - Strong presentation and communication skills, both in person and virtually. - A high level of initiative, urgency, persistence, and competitive drive. - The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a territory, pipeline, and multiple opportunities simultaneously. - A professional presence and the ability to represent ResPro Sleep as a trusted partner within the healthcare community. - Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory for sales calls, meetings, conferences, and other business-development activities. Benefits - Comprehensive Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental, Vision) - Flexible Paid Time Off - Training and Development opportunities - Compensation: $120 - $150K per year ($65K-$75K base salary + car allowance and commission)
