Why it matters: OTE tells you what you could earn. Attainment tells you how realistic it is.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

  1. 1.

What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?

OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.

  2. 2.

What percentage of reps on the team have been here more than 18 months?

Tenure shows whether people stay long enough to get paid.

  3. 3.

Has the comp plan changed in the last 12 to 18 months? What changed?

A plan that changes every year means the goalposts keep moving.

  4. 4.

Who sits with reps and reviews calls each week?

Coaching is often what's behind a good or bad attainment number.

  5. 5.

What are the base and the OTE for this role?

No point investing hours before you know the number.

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

New headcount is growth. A replacement means someone left. Ask why.

› When the offer comes

Save these for later. They land better once they've said yes to you.

  1. 1.

Can I see the full comp plan in writing, including clawbacks and accelerators?

What's in writing is what gets paid. Read it before you sign.

  2. 2.

Can I see the actual comp distribution for the team last year, not just the OTE?

The spread shows what most reps really take home. OTE is just the target.

  3. 3.

I'd be walking away from earned commission to join. Is there room for a sign-on bonus to help cover that?

Leaving money behind is a fair reason to ask. The worst answer is no.

Full posting
About Sumble Sumble helps go-to-market teams win with deep account intelligence and signals that other data vendors simply can't provide. We map every account, person, and job post globally to uncover insights that were previously impossible to gather. For example, we can identify every company in the US currently running a data migration project involving Databricks, while pinpointing the exact team and person leading the initiative. Sumble is backed by a $38.5M Series A (Coatue, Canaan), and our team includes engineers and sales leaders from companies like Google, Meta, and Snowflake. We've scaled to millions in revenue without a marketing department. Now we're building the outbound engine to match the product, and you will be a foundational part of it, paired directly with an Account Executive. About the Role We're hiring Outbound BDRs to grow Sumble’s footprint inside new accounts. You will connect with the sellers who would use Sumble every day, help them see its value, and turn that momentum into conversations with the leaders who own the budget. This is a multi-channel role: email, phone, LinkedIn, and in-product signals all play a part. You will have Sumble's own data at your fingertips, the same account intelligence our customers pay for, plus modern AI tools like Claude and Grok Bot to research faster and write sharper outreach. We expect you to use them as a core part of how you work, not as a novelty. We're looking for someone gritty, resourceful, and tactful: a thinker who reads a situation before reaching out, keeps going when a sequence goes quiet, and wants to grow within the org. Our Team We are a team of engineers, data scientists, and designers with experience at companies such as Google, Stack Overflow, Kaggle, and Meta. Our sales team comes from companies like Snowflake, 11x, Confluent, and Opendoor. We're based in San Francisco and are remote-friendly across US time zones. What You Will Own - The PLG-to-pipeline motion: Drive sign-ups, enable, and monitor product usage and account signals to spot which self-serve users and companies are ready for a deeper sales conversation. - Meetings for your AE: Book qualified meetings that turn into real opportunities. You will work side by side with your Account Executive on targeting, handoffs, and feedback. - Multi-channel outreach: Run thoughtful outbound plays across email, phone, LinkedIn, and other social channels. - Account research: Use Sumble's own data to map buying committees, find the team leading a relevant initiative, and build a point of view before the first touch. - AI-powered workflows: Use Claude, Grok, and other tools to speed up research, personalize at scale, and build repeatable plays you can share with the team. - Experimentation and feedback: Test new messaging, channels, and segments. Track what works, report on it, and feed what you hear from prospects back to product and marketing. - Clean data and process: Keep the CRM accurate and help shape the playbook as the outbound function grows. What You Bring - SDR or BDR experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, with a track record of booking meetings that convert to pipeline. - Grit. You keep going when sequences go quiet, and you treat a "no" as information, not the end. - Resourcefulness. You find the angle, the person, or the data point others miss, and you don't wait for a perfect list to get started. - Tact. You read the room, know when to push and when to pause, and represent the brand well in every touch. - Strong, concise writing and confidence on the phone. - A desire to grow within Sumble, whether that's toward an AE role, outbound leadership, or another path in GTM. Nice to Have - Hands-on familiarity with Claude and Grok, and a habit of building AI into your daily workflow. - Experience working a product-led growth (PLG) motion, turning self-serve users into sales conversations. - Experience selling to technical or data-oriented buyers, or to GTM teams (sales, RevOps, marketing). - Comfort with CRMs, sequencing platforms, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Why Sumble - A product that makes outreach easier. You will prospect with the same signals our customers use to win deals, so your outreach starts with real context. - Room to grow. You will join early, work closely with sales leadership, and have a clear path to grow as the team scales. - Real ownership. You will own the PLG motion end to end and help define the outbound playbook, not just follow one. - A strong team. Learn from sales leaders and engineers who've built and scaled teams at Snowflake, Confluent, Google, and Meta. Benefits - Medical, dental, and vision (US) - 401k (US) - Target 4 weeks PTO
