The job
- What you'd do
- Build relationships with the people who make decisions at New York's biggest law firms, then win a first practice group and grow across the whole firm. Most of your work will come from your own network and referrals.
- What you'd sell
Helps law firms run every case from one place
When a law firm takes on a case, it has to keep track of documents, deadlines, and notes for every client. The problem is, when those pieces live in different places, people lose time hunting for them and miss things that matter. Filevine keeps each case's documents, tasks, and team in one place, so lawyers and paralegals see trouble coming instead of scrambling at the last minute.

Questions to ask on the first call
Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.
- 1.
What percentage of fully ramped reps hit quota last year?
OTE is what you could earn. This is how likely you are to earn it.
- 2.
What are the base and the OTE for this role?
No point investing hours before you know the number.
- 3.
What's the annual quota, and how was it set?
A quota built from real data is a target. Otherwise it's a hope.
- 4.
What share of last year's closed deals did reps source themselves?
Shows how much pipeline you'll have to build on your own.
- 5.
How long is ramp, and what's the quota during it?

About the Role
Filevine is expanding in New York, and we need a strategic leader who understands the nuance of the city’s top law firms. This is ideal for a former attorney who wants to move away from traditional practice and focus on relationship-building, market strategy, and growth. You’ll connect us with decision-makers at major firms, build out a network of trusted advisors, and pave the way to build a regional team down the line.
Core Responsibilities:
Shape the NY Strategy:
Build and execute our go-to-market plan for the New York market, setting long-term goals for growth across BigLaw, AmLaw, NLJ 500, and large general-practice firms.
Cultivate High-Impact Relationships:
Develop a strong network of referral partners, consultants, and advisors whose introductions give Filevine a seat at the table. Your connections and industry standing will be the primary engine driving our presence forward.
Create & Expand Opportunities:
Identify key enterprise opportunities, land initial footholds in practice groups or regional offices, and build the relationships needed to expand across entire firms over time.
Maintain Deal Momentum:
Partner closely with our Strategic Accounts team, keeping executive relationships warm and aligned as opportunities progress toward close. (This role focuses on relationship leadership and vision, leaving technical demos and redlines to dedicated account executives.)
Build and Lead the Local Team:
As the New York motion gains traction, you will hire, mentor, and structure a dedicated team of sellers and relationship managers to scale our regional footprint.
Represent the New York Market:
Work side-by-side with internal sales, marketing, product, and customer success teams to serve as the voice of New York’s legal community within Filevine.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Legal Background:
10+ years as an attorney, partner or managing partner inside an AmLaw, BigLaw, or comparable large firm setting.
Established Local Network:
Strong existing relationships in and around the New York legal market, along with the credibility to continuously broaden your reach.
Hands-On Leadership Style:
Comfort rolling up your sleeves to personally drive early strategy and relationship-building before building and managing a larger team.
JD (Juris Doctor) required
Location:
Based in or near New York City.
Nice to Have:
Prior business development, sales, or partnership experience in legal tech or professional services.
A strong grasp of modern legal technology and the operational dynamics of large law firms.
Proven experience hiring, coaching, or leading client-facing teams.
Work Location Expectation: Most roles for candidates in or near these metro areas (San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Chicago, or New York) are fully onsite. Some roles offer a hybrid schedule of 2–3 days in-office per week
Cool Company Benefits:
- A dynamic, rapidly growing company, focused on helping organizations thrive
- Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance (for full-time employees)
- Competitive & Fair Pay
- Maternity & paternity leave (for full-time employees)
- Short & long-term disability
- Opportunity to learn from a dedicated leadership team
- Top-of-the-line company swag
