Worth asking about

  • Same role posted many times. The company has 8 or more open postings with this exact title. Could be a big build-out, could be a revolving door. Ask how many reps they hired last year and how many are still there.

Green flags

None spotted.

Based only on what the posting says. Flags are a starting point for your first call, not a final judgment.

Questions to ask on the first call

Built from what this posting leaves out. How they answer tells you as much as what they say.

    Same role posted many times

  2. 2.

What percent of reps hit quota last year?

    Not in the posting

  3. 3.

What's the OTE, and what did the median rep earn last year?

    No OTE listed

  4. 4.

What's the annual quota, and how was it set?

    Not in the posting

  5. 5.

What share of last year's closed deals did reps source themselves?

    Mostly self-sourced

  6. 6.

Why is this role open? Did someone leave, or is it new?

    Always ask

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Raleigh, London, and Amsterdam. Plaid's Mid-Market Sales team helps innovative, high-growth companies across Europe become fintech-enabled. We partner with product, engineering, and commercial leaders at fast-scaling, established businesses to bring Plaid's platform into their stack. We're more than a sales team: as strategic advisors and growth enablers, we expand Plaid's reach into new use cases, sectors, and markets and help advance our mission of unlocking financial freedom for everyone. We're looking for a Mid-Market Account Executive to join our Mid-Market Sales team in Europe. You'll lead full-cycle sales with high-potential companies building the next generation of financial services, owning each relationship from first touch through close. You'll run consultative sales motions with technical and commercial stakeholders and play a key part in shaping how Plaid scales its mid-market motion across Europe. Responsibilities - Pinpoint and secure commercial partnerships with rapidly scaling organisations throughout Europe. - Manage the complete end-to-end sales motion, from initial prospecting and qualification through to final contract execution and handover. - Advise product and engineering leaders through technical assessments of Plaid's platform and suite of solutions. - Build and sustain a robust pipeline across both inbound leads and targeted outbound engagement. - Partner closely with cross-functional colleagues – including Account Management, Sales Engineering, Risk, and Product – to execute complex transactions. - Champion Plaid's mission and value proposition across the broader fintech landscape and adjacent sectors. - Help refine and scale our mid-market go-to-market playbooks and operational standards in a fast-growing region. QUALIFICATIONS - 4+ years of end-to-end sales experience in quota-carrying, closing roles. - Demonstrated success leading consultative, highly technical sales motions (ideally £75k+ ACV). - A track record of engaging product, engineering, and executive leaders. - A history of consistently meeting and exceeding performance targets. - Exceptional communication skills coupled with a deeply collaborative approach. - Deep enthusiasm for fintech and an up-to-date understanding of market developments. Nice-to-Haves - Prior experience in fintech, payments infrastructure, or developer platforms. - An understanding of UK and European regulatory frameworks and compliance dynamics. - Proficiency in an additional European language. Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
